Nairn that looks really unusual, you might want to get it checked/replaced.. I've got a Dell 24", and its fine apart from very slightly purple-looking black (compared to my Apple 23"), and being tooo bright (really, I've got it on zero and its still too bright)...and seem sit suffers from changing brightness when viewed at horizontal angle (compared to Cinema Display)...but yours looks wierd..

My 24" isn't like that, but there's some glare right now, so it's hard to tell.
The only time I notice anything is with the XP startup blue screen, but I know at least most of that is the bg. Other than that, it looks fine.
Call them and get a new one.

hmph. thought not.
there's no glare in that picture (all the blinds are down and there's only a wee lamp in the far corner behind)
So I guess I'm justified in calling them and telling them something's amiss? Thanks guys!

the 2405 sometimes has a backlight issue, just call, they will send out a new one nextday air. Then you just send the other one back. Just make sure you test the new one right away. I've heard people have had to do that a couple times. Same with dead pixels. But they will just replace until you get one perfect.

in that case, i hope they recycle them!
Am on the 'phone now, so we'll see what happens.
Thanks all :)
