Actually, they think they have another 1,000 years of Non-Renewable Sources left or something along those lines. Personally, sure, Renewable Energy sources, the Sun, Hydroelectric, Nuclear is the smarter way to go. I was actually referring to the way they handle their political affairs in places like Africa and the Middle East, Caspian Sea, Gulf of Mexico, etc.

" Haven't we been through this before, there have been much higher levels of so-called 'Global Warming' throughout Geologic History than what currently exists today. Widescale Vulcanism, Deccan traps, etc, were the cause "
What? Is shrugging is the new denial?
Has the earth been warmner in the past?
Sure.
If we make the earth hotter, it will be o.k. because it was hotter in the past?
Ah... I don't think so
The change in sea level, available fresh water , and arable land could put massive stress on human civilization.
Thigs are pretty fucked up chaotic right now, and you want to run the risk of making them worse?
That said, balmming exxon seems flawed. ...if they went "green", some other company would fill the demand for lazy dirty energy.
I think people need to see the advantge of living an efficent, self sufficent life for any of this to turn around...
Does the concept of personal responsibilty not apply to the problems you leave for future generations?

" On both sides of the coin "
fair and balanced, eh?
is everything that simple to you?
so like 90% of independent scientists believe climate change is a fact. (without knowing what the absolute outcome will be, but agreeing it won't make human culture more stable)
then10% think its a bunch of crap.
...and this coin has two sides?

I own some of Jed Oil's stock: http://www.investors.com/yahoofi…
and no not Uncle Jed from the Beverly Hillbillies. And I hope the f*ck they get bought out. That's what they want and their investors want.

(Jan 30 06, 13:09)not enough overall data to date, they haven't been tracking this very long, plain and simple. too much guessing. come back and argue about it 50 to 100 years from now. even that is a blink of an eye in comparison to most of how old most scientists think things can be dated.

(Jan 30 06, 13:13)That doesn't even make sense.

yeah, I meant:
not enough overall data to date, they haven't been tracking this very long, plain and simple. too much guessing. come back and argue about it 50 to 100 years from now. even 100 years is a blink of an eye in comparison to the Earth's paleoenvironments.

So, your sticking to the why change, in the grand scheme of things we are fucked argument. I mean sooner or later the earth will be enveloped by the sun anyway.
As long as you get some good living from your stock eh jaz.

Most scientists believe it to be true, but it can't be proven 100% so keep pumping shit into the atmosphere, fuck it.
- Crouwel0
speaking of pumping shit into the atmosphere,
did you know (seriously) how much shit cows are farting into the atmosphere?
- neenaw0
did you know (seriously) how much shit cows are farting into the atmosphere?
Crouwel
(Jan 30 06, 13:20)A lot.
Ruminant animals are responsible for around 25% of the methane gas produced in the UK.
In Scotland, where there is a greater concentration of agriculture, the animals produce 46% of all methane emissions.
- JazX0
I don't believe it's a good idea to keep pumping shit, as you put it, into the atmosphere, mrdobilina, that's not the point. The point is that the concept of 'global warming' is disputed and many think there are other aspects that add to it, not just human endeavor alone.
Not that the Earth hasn't been getting warmer over the past 40 years. It has, but it could have also been doing this in patterns over the past 50,000,000 years for example.
Ride them stocks, either way, they are out pumping the oil up, so why not be smart and buy into it, if it's profitable and legal.
- mrdobolina0
sorry, I wouldnt buy stock in oil companies.
For the same reason that other people say they wouldnt design for cig companies.
greed is not an attribute.

I was talking about myself, do your thing.
But whatever floats your boat. There are other things to invest in.

100% rubbish.
believe what you WANT TO beacuse that's the key here... you dont WANT TO accept the truth because you would have to take responsiblity for your actions...
please tell me whwt i have to gain for accepting all this climate change nonsense?
This is soo much like the i.d. argument... the people that oppose it do so not based on objective analysis, they do WANT TO accept the outcome.
Did you know the moon landing was faked?
Prove it wasn't

JazX. it is a shame to seem someone who appears to have an open mind and be a creative thinker - saying such idiotic stuff.
fact: carbon dioxide traps heat
fact: we are taking carbon out of the earth and putting into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide
fact: the earth has been getting increasingly warm as carbon concentration increaseby not doing anything now about warming we are driving the car off the cliff... and taking our childrens future with us - global warming deniers like yourself are the drunks at the wheel.
