to what extent do you take this?
does human life have any value? what dictates right and wrong for anyone? if I feel it is my purpose in life to be a mass murderer, who are you to tell me I shouldn't?

cant we all just get along?

Good, Everyone here agrees that abortion, including the day after pill and birth control pills that abort a conception, are always murder. And thus are morally wrong.
I am glad we finally all agree.

(Jan 23 06, 12:25)i dunno dude, the bible does allow for killing in self defense...

That is great, Gramme. I know and am friends with many religious people too.
But should laws be changed related to a certain segment of the populations' religious faith?
Many of the reasons you give for being against abortion are related to your religious faith. You said it yourself.
Now I can see why you PERSONALLY would have nothing to do with abortion. I agree with that, but what gives anyone the right to let their religious philosophy dictate public policy?
That is the point here. Sometimes people just need to take care of them and theirs and leave other folks alone.

(Jan 23 06, 12:09)I understand your point dobs. But the place where I guess I depart from many people is that I don't make a distinction between murder and abortion. I think murder is a moral, ethical, philosophical, and political issue. I don't see abortion any differently.
That being said, i respect your opinion. And as I mentioned earlier, I know women who have had abortions. I would never shun anyone for making that choice, though it would make me sad.
Agree to disagree?
k0na, can I go design something now?? ;)

I understand you see no difference between murder and abortion, because of your philosophy on when a chemical reaction becomes a baby.
But not everyone believes the same way.

"You can't have an abortion because of God and Jesus and the Bible."
"Well, What if I dont believe in the god and jesus and th bible?"
"That doesnt matter, silly. I do!"

ergo - you would advocate bush, cheney, rumsfeld, rice etc... be tried and punished for the 10s of thousands innocents they have killed in iraq and afganistan? are you working to pursue justice on this matter? if so, how? show us. if not, why not?
do you preach to this to your bush loving friends at church about his crimes against life and humanity?

holy shit where do guys find the time to talk this shit to death?

(Jan 23 06, 12:32)What are you asking me for? I'm not the one up your ass on the issue. "Sometimes people just need to take care of them and theirs and leave other folks alone."
Sometimes people need to heed their own advice.

mrdobs, your logic is flawed. One doesn't have to embrace Biblical Christianity to recognize that human life should be seen as precious and should be protected. It is a fact that the zygote has everything that makes a human, human, at conception.
spk - you make unwarranted assumptions (like most of the liberals here). You have a caricature of conservatives that your gurus have sold to you. A caricature that says they all believe the same thing. So, what do you do with Christians like myself who are strictly pro-life, but against the war in Iraq and environmentally conscious?

"Christians like myself who are strictly pro-life, but against the war in Iraq and environmentally conscious?"
you mean like Jim Wallis:

i applaud and support you - as long as you do not try to force your religious and social beliefs on others.

(Jan 23 06, 12:48)Kona, you don't have to refute EVERYTHING I say... do you?
- flagellum0
Like numerous other Christians, I know, spk. Unlike the caricature that many are sold by Humanist gurus and the like.
And I don't personally know any Christians who "try to force" their beliefs on others. I know Christians who respectfully share their views in civil discourse.

I"m not going to answer that. I'm going to take care of myself and my own and leave other folks alone. I'll respect another man's beliefs, even if they are not my own.
- mrdobolina0
Good answer, religion and politics don't mix.

(Jan 23 06, 12:44)Spk,
If Bush & co. are tried for murder and are found guilty, then yes I would support that decision. Is there anything that I could actually do, peacefully, to make a difference in this matter, besides writing letters to my Congressmen & women? I would be open to constructive suggestions.
I have in the past and do talk to my fellow Christians about my views on Bush and the war. I live in Missouri right now, though I'm actually from Maryland, and am quite surrounded by staunch Republicans. But I keep talking to people..hopefully while maintaining a sense of grace instead of harrassing anyone.
