This reminds me that years ago (was 2000) at univeristy, we we're designing a website for a community of web and graphic deisgners...
And the first thing we did was compile a list of forbiddend words such as: virtual, multi-user, @, interactive and so on...

hey, chump is still better then marketing guy.
;P

I'm only just now baby-stepping into this world of web design, coming from more of a print design background. I wondered at first why you guys were raging about all this 2.0 stuff.
Then I thought how ticked I'd be if some trigger-happy cowboy, slinging his spin gun, rolled up ins with a "Design 2.0" when someone invented a more usable printing press, if that's even a valid comparrison. I'm all for sexing up a new detergent formula with a slick catch-phrase, but assigning an industry with one does irk me a little, now that you guys mention it, and mention it with so many swears.

some people are just not good with change..
i should leave this thread.
- chaztoo0
fear of change might be some of it, but I can totally understand the defending of territory here. You have to look at it from that perspective. One way or another we all use a shade or hype to buy our bread, but it needs to have it's place.

"nope sorry they are web.2.0 companies. "
FUCK OFF!

I'll bet Web 2.0 still only has Arial and Verdanda.
- madirish0
sorry, but i embrace "the only constant is change" with open, ready and willing arms. this, IMO, has nothing to do with "change". that is the irony of the entire situation, there is not a change- just marketing babble trying to spin what some groups have been demonstrating for many years- pre 2000 included.
i say please stay in this thread. no one hates you but to not display a critique in the positive of the very phrase is to cattle-call along....
- jevad0
marketing bullshit

Opposition stems from ignorance, people fear what they do not understand. people opposing web 2.0 have no desire to increase thier knowledge in thier chosen field and most likely still use tables an other such archaic code
web 2.0 wants to eliminate bloated code, have one version of a site work on all platforms, phones, pdas, and other portable devices without having to create different versions for each, this type of method also allows for more current updatibility
simply stated web 2.0 is seperating the trendsetters from the followers by proving that content and interactivity can be accomplished with faster page loads and user level content control

oh I'm sorry did I say something?
I meant go buy an iProduct because macs are the shit and the only marketing designers want to support is that which puts money in his own pocket not better him as an artist or lead to something new
but then again everyone has thier high speed porn, the web must be perfect as it is
