Ok, My boss wants me to do some mockups for some simple tv spots. Just moving text with a voice over no video. Whats the best way to set this up in flash? (rez and fps)
Will 640x480 by 30 work? or is there something better?

25 fps
uk tv either 720, 576 fcpro
768, 576 avid
Export as a quicktime movie.
Hope this helps. Under no circumstances can you use anything less than 720,576

Ok, so if this is for TV in the USA is it the same? 720x576 at 25?

if your in europe then it should be you 720px X 576px and make sure its 25 frames per second. export as quicktime DVpal. will look a bit shit on computer but on tv will be fine.

for usa the settings are different, NTSC which i think is 640*480 at 29.4 frames per second

If in Flash, don't use 29.whatev, round up to 30. It is not designed to hanlde the real-world wideo fram rates.

If you're planning to use embedded movieclips, be careful. They might not export out as Quicktime.

If u can get to a PC, use SWF2VIDEO.
It exports everything (movieclips, mouse interaction, actionscript, audio, everything everything). If u get the Pro version, it exports with an alpha channel (ala your text animations). It'll export at any frame rate you want too and look smooth at that. You can get a 1 GB AVI file for 15 seconds of video, pretty high quality shiznit. I used this program over a few hundred times to transform clips for my reel. Works like a charm. Shablaam.
