becoming microsoft?
they're worse, hands down.
other media players do this same thing but always put the option to turn it off right up front during the installation process.

microsoft do not send back data back to microsoft unless you are doing update installer.
and when they do that, they ask you if you want to do that.
mind you, apple's update system works the same way. it examines your system and downloads the specific data required.

I get an email from iTunes every Tuesday telling me the new releases. I only installed iTunes once, with a fake email address. Stop spamming me.

it's a well known fact itunes was a project of the government to spy on us.

1. you do not need to give any information to download iTunes. Not even an email address.
2. just because they can display an album based on the songs you listen to does not mean they capture any information. This is one way communication, if you don't trust them just block the ip or monitor your data transfer.

how about them google huh?
retaining your search results and emails infohuh?

I agree. Google is more likely to be a bigger threat especially since they have people convinced they're not "evil".
