    Any tips on creating a 6 metre x 2 metre document. We're doing it quarter size i.e 3m x 1m at 300dpi but that's still massive...

    And our G5 is struggling!

It has to be done in photoshop I'm afraid.

    Help!

All I can suggest is do as much of it as vector as possible and then import-resize once ready into PS. If it's all raster work, I dunno.

ask nasa to borrow one of their super computers, its the only way, no computer can handle that shit.... bloody hell!

thats like saying i need to travel from london to new york in under twelve hours, and it has to be on foot!

I assume you're creating the file at 300dpi.

If the banner/poster is that big you won't need to work at 300dpi as no-one will be able to look at the whole thing at once anyway – and I'm assuming they won't need to get up close to it. 150 or even 100dpi will probably be fine. You forget that while it's important for a book to look perfect whilst readig up close, poster's are never that high-res, your eye fills in the image.

In fact if you wanted to look at a billboard image from a mile away a 300dpi image would be no good. You'd never see it. You would need a really big screen effect on it for it to be legible.

I had a friend who did a tube ad, they asked for it about A1 size, then they just blew it up.

if your file is over about 500mb then something is wr

Most large format printers don't print higher than 100 or 150 dpi for large pieces. I know I work for an exhibit company I do large 40ft graphics. I never do anything larger than 4ft higher then 150 dpi.

hmmm, just read your post properly. So you're working at quarter size. Shouldn't be too bad. I guess you need one of those new intel processor macs!

so how did it turn out?

I am working on a 20ft serpentine exhibit right now. so I feel your pain. The best thing is make sure your size is right with your printing process ie if your printing lambda then use 100dpi etc and make sure all you images are sized right before you put them into the mural also work locally and try to do filters and layer style in another document then brig them into the final mural.

    fucking sucks i know

Thanks Baskerville for Re-Reading the post!!!

David...it is possible because it is done everyday for billboards and truck livery.

If you read it properly It will only be 75dpi at full size...

    300dpi is at quater size!
