ooh but that marshall sound is so Particular!
I like me orange cos it sounds so warm, but then i do like crunchy guitars.
is the 30W valve vs 100W transistor thing true of any amp?
i got all excited just then cos i thought your link was for CornFed amps, you know like all southern and gravelly.

I'm ok, not good

maybe i just don't like the shitty buzzing marshalls at survival studios! i don't know what an old plexi sounds like, please excuse my ignorance :(
k0na you cunt.

I havent had a lesson on guitar my entire life, and i'd probably wipe the floor of all of you. Dont bother with lessons. get a book, with chords in it. and practise.
by a spanish guitar to learn on, nylon strings.

GARRRRRR k0na i HATE you!!!!!

k0na can I please have your '68 jazzmaster?
then I could sell it and buy Vespa a '68 marshall plexi so she'll have a nice amp.
Hmm, jazzmaster, that's a weird name seeing as how I've never seen a jazz musician using one. They should have called it surfmaster. Or pretentiousindiemaster.

surfmaster suits. baskerville you're such a jazz snob!
- Baskerville0
ah, the best compliment I've ever had!
Sadly I'm known to be a rocker to my jazz friends :o(
But I want to be a jazzer so bad!

if you can play piano, you can virtually pick up any other instrument
- Baskerville0
btw before I go home for the day
- Baskerville0
Jaz, I agree. I've played piano my whole life and maybe it's because I've got a good visual memory but I know my chords and scales really well from looking at the black and white keys.
On a piano an f# looks like an f#
on a guitar it looks like every other note. So if someone asks me what notes are in a Bbmaj7 chords I just picture it on the piano then I know the notes.
They should make a black and white guitar!

Baskerville
(Jan 4 06, 09:22)jazzmasters were rare from what i understand. if only the beatles had used a jazzmaster instead of a strat the guitar would be worth 5x as much.

interestingly, Kurt Cobain like jazzmaster style guitars. Fender made two models the jaguar and the mustang which were both similar to the jazzmaster.
Fender asked him if he wanted a custom guitar and they made him a 'jagstang' a mixture of the two, partly I think because he was left handed.I think 60s jazzmasters are worth less than strats because the strat is a better guitar not just because it was used my famour musicians. It's much easier to use, less fiddly controls etc.

(Jan 4 06, 09:40)doesn't the strat have a better sound/more pickups too?

vespa,
I have a Boss chorus pedal (CH-1 Super Chorus) with a stereo and mono output.
Each output goes to one amp, and even though they are the same amps, I have the eq's a bit different, especially on the second channel.
This amp has way too many knobs:
and lots of options for sound.
Bottom line, we wouldn't sound the way we sound with too many other setups. I keep the reverb 100% full on one and at 75% on the other.Next step in this setup is getting a tube preamp for one of the amps. Something that will color the sound a bit more and differentiate from the other amp.
They are solid state amps, but when Fender made this series of amps they were doing a thing called Tube Emulation. I've played it next to a twin reverb a few times, and man they sound very similiar. The Pro 185 has such a nice reverb.

i'd love a jaguar or a mustang. i nearly got a jagstang cos they're pretty cheap and have small frets, but in the end the strat won me over cos it felt nicer.
it must be great to be able to just see chords baskerville, all i can do is hear a chord in my head, find it on keys and then slowly work out what it's called or else get my bassist to tell me haha!
apparently i come up with interesting chord progressions tho because of this "special" way of working.
can you hear a chord in your head and know what it is without finding it on keys? that would be so amazing.
