Can design touch the heart in a meaningful way (beyond just selling socks)?
We're looking for examples of design that touches the heart over at www.b-l-a-n-k.com. Anyone have any good examples?

attach a h ttp : // to your link then people can click it

i think sagmeister design is very emotional. though it is sometimes closer to art than actual design.

yes sagmaister.
but one a smaller scale.
seing the client happy with the work i did for him is my biggest reward.this goes from big time commercial work to local work.
i just like it when what i did, pleased them.

Hope you are giving big nods to Sagmeister given that he has done speaking tours on this exact topic.

i have seen some amazing product/industrial design that touches the heart. one of the was a surgeon's knife made of very fine stainless steel.
it was really made to touch someone's heart.
oh wait, figuratively speaking, eh?
...hmm

I was hired for an ID/stationery job by a woman who was officially launching herself as the representative of her father's artwork.
Evidence of the human hand & expressiveness were the unifying elements in the broad scope of work he created over the course of around 60 years. After many sketches I arrived at the icon of a slightly flexed upraised hand.
When the client saw it for the first time, she starting crying. She said her father used to hold up his hand like that (he was very outspoken) whenever he was declaiming against something. She said, "That's my father's hand".
I gues I got lucky, as this was news to me. I felt blessed to have such an experience at an early pt in my career. We still keep in touch, & her father's work is now in the Holocaust Museum.

lol tomkat.
so much negative thinking going on nowadays.. people always assume the negative first, then judge, then think of other possibilities.
i've noticed it a lot lately..

Thanks for all the comments and sorry about the link. I was in a hurry. And yes, BLANK is a blog site done in Blogger. I'm not ashamed to use Blogger as a designer, it is a good service and easy to use (more than I can say about most design sites). If you really want to integrate a blog into your site, WordPress and Moveable Type are the standards.
I enjoyed reading about the times your design touched someone's heart. And yes, Sagemeister is the first to coing the phrase and I've reviewed his work extensively...but he really just introduces the concept. I'd like to go further.
