Well since you're now worried about the ethics of the whole thing, why do anything more that might cause you to be more concerned about your actions?
The tough choice would be to go and talk to the guy straight out. It would be the hard but honest choice. And possibly the best solution? :)

I didn't mean to sound sarcastic in the first sentence...

amen. I think stealing is less ethical than snooping.

and I would agree with danthon, if you have personal stuff on your work computer that's connected to a network, then a co-worker stumbling across it while doing a job isn't really unethical.
Although, him taking personal credit for your work is.......
i mean, damn, if he's taking your work, he should of at least tried to hide it better. unless, of course, he didnt care if you found it.

line up another job, then talk to the guy. tell him what happened, admit you snooped but let him know in no uncertain terms that you will NOT let him get away with plagiarism.

haha this is such a good thread!

burn his ass.
any idiot that leaves a portfolio + resumé on a work computer isn't too intelligent. I would basically say, "yo. how about you remove my pieces from your portfolio, and I won't send an email to the suits about how you're looking for a new job and doing so with company time and equipment."

poking his stuff was not very ethical. you two make a nice team.

ethics are for pussies.

apply for one of the jobs he has applied for using the same work.
by the way, I don't approve of your snooping. bad snooper!

apply for copyright, then hire a headhunter to "employ" him, then sue his ass off red-handed for stealing your work.
he doesn't have to know how you know, but he has to die.

this is the same guy that busted me for leaving @ 4:30 on a Friday not acknowledging that I stay way past closing most nights. I hate him now he's stealing my work. I am pissed!

(Dec 22 05, 14:14)say "hey I got curious and looked through your portfolio. I noticed that you are stealing my work."
also, send your portfolio/resume to the same places he is.

as long as he can't design as good as you, he will fail when he gets the new job as he won't be capable of producing quality work.
thats my 'PC response' -my inner self says send some advance emails to his prospects alerting them to the "portfoliio"

insert a line that says 'expert plagariser' and hope he sends it out without checking.

My friend Aaron says:
expert plagarizer. WHATEVER. kick the fellow in the stomach. let him hit the ground clutching his innards and hoping that there wasn't too much internal bleeding.

insert a line that says 'expert plagariser' and hope he sends it out without checking.

This was probably the best suggestion yet.
