Watched this last night...on GeekTV ( SciFi channel)
Liked it alot, could remake that now and it be the DB's. One thing I did notice though was some of those sets, dialogue and overall plot and even props looked very similar to the matrix... Those dudes ripped this film off or what?

Wow thats nuts... and with the timing, they could have written the Matrix right after seeing Dark City. I happen to like Dark City alot. People who say it's a "horrible film" need to relax and enjoy things for what they are sometimes.

Probably one of the most imaginative films of the nineties. It's filled with Expressionist visuals, but pushes the envelope in modern set design more than most.

I thought it had really bad performances. Cool visuals though, the floating people and all that.

it had some really interesting concepts in it, and some shots/sets were pretty good.
i love the shot in the beginning when he releases the goldfish into the tub...lovely.

Amazing visuals in Dark City....hated the movie the first time I saw it because it had one of the BEST trailers EVER and I expected SOOOOO much more and was a let down because of that......but now I love it.
If someone can find that trailer for Dark City watch it......one of the coolest trailers ever made.
Anyone seen The 13th Floor? It came out the same year as The Matrix but got completely buried and overshadowed by it.....really cool movie if you like the general concept of the matrix.

someone probably mentioned this already (too lazy to read the thread), but yes, the matrix used most of the sets that were created for dark city

The other day I was looking at the new film the bros are working on now:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0434409/… (V for Vendetta, which looks awesome) and noticed that the guy directing it also worked on Dark City and The Matrix. So obviously they had some similar ideas, since some of the same people worked on both films.
