On the one hand America is preaching the dissolving of borders in the North America Free Trade Agreement, and Summit of the Americas. They promote this as an openness between nations that will be prosperous for all involved.
Then they build a wall between its neighbour and trading partner whose labour contributes significantly to its economy, culture, and history.

(Dec 21 05, 14:56)YES!
And fox was pissed of because there are countries in south america that still won't believe that crap.
I know mexicans don't deserve what is happening but I willl love to hear fox opinions on this, after he preached how mexico's unity to the US helped so much..

Fox is a joker. Just a puppet pushing money to Switzerland, waiting for his chance to cash all his winnings in for taking power next to the US.

actually, I have no idea who you really are, but you raise a good point. the attention given to the USA here, on a daily basis, is astounding. lol

(Dec 21 05, 15:00)and why would you think that is?
- JazX0
hmmmm, good question. maybe hatred, possibly jealousy. mass information and spread of propaganda on the Internets? too many variables actually imo

this really is different from early 20th century immigration. millions of people came to the US then, but not a whole freaking country. teach them english, make them citizens, let them vote vs. the current trend of let them stick together in close-knit ghettos where a myriad of social problems flourish.

hell they do all the jobs americans are too good for. The economy would be fucked without them.
- spiralstarez0
A lot of attention is paid to the US because a lot of things they have done and will do in the future affect a lot of lives outside its boundaries.
Its a no brainer as to why people who aren't from there pay attention and voice an opinion.
- JazX0
exactly. assimilate. I know so many Mexican-Americans that, sadly, hate so-called 'Gringos'.
Strange ehhh?
Not sure...?

(Dec 21 05, 15:08)that might be true on some level, but believe you me, all of the positive stuff that has been done, not only in the past but during this administration as well is overlooked. so that sh*t don't fly with me.

(Dec 21 05, 15:08)isn't that like the terminology that the Romans used for, Germany, Germania. I get what you're saying now...

if mexico wasn't such a flaming shithole i'd say we should just take over mexico and be done with it
just erase mexico and expand california
we'd have more space 'n' shit
only thing is we'd have to do something with all the mexicans. all that sudden neediness (millions of poor, unemployed) would bog us down

Name 3 positive things this administration has done that are commonly held in high opinion with the majority of world opinion (not just in the US)
1)
2)
3)Thank you.

(Dec 21 05, 15:08)sure they hate americans, I'd be bitter if I had to mow some jackass' lawn for 10 bucks a day.
the thing is if they aren't better assimilated, then the US will end up with an even bigger class division than it has now. it will be even worse in fact because language will be the divide. it sounds like hate rhetoric, but the US will need an official language.

(Dec 21 05, 15:08)The really sad thing is you almost do. Most of the major resources in BC are owned by american companies. This includes even our healthcare records, oil, hyrdo, water ect.
As a Canadian its scary to see our resource based businesses and former crown corporations becoming increasingly owned by American companies.
- JazX0
1. Foreign Aid (on a multitude of levels, USAID, education, etc.)
2. Military Aid to a number of different countries, not just Iraq
3. Forgiveness of debtetc., etc.

We will never please the world.
If Europe had it their way they would like to continue their relationship with Saddam so they can accept his bribes, have the US keep its borders open, not allow America to interrogate terrorists, not allow America to spy within its own country and not go to war with a country that has been warned for 12 years. Think about that.
- spiralstarez0
I will agree with you to an extent aside from the fact that all of those are generalities and not true examples of what this administration has uniquely done/accomplished that wasn't already in place.

(Dec 21 05, 15:14)But when it becomes official all our poor will swarm into canada looking for work. then the crime rate will jump, drugs will be all over, etc.
On the bright side, europe would probably be all over the canadian economy.
- JazX0
true, no matter what you do, what you are doing you will never make everyone happy. not an unknown fact to anyone. it's all relative. as if anyone outside the US would want to support the US in the first place.
moot point. silly discussion and no end to it.
