First, what are your opinions on the nature and direction of each design idustry?
AND do you see any dicrimination on either side towards designers. For example would an highly skilled UK designer having trouble finding work in the US and vise versa.

from my own highly unscientific survey, uk design is superior to us design

I would prefer to debate who would win in a match between Giant Haystacks and The Big Show.

I've never heard of Giant Haystacks. Cool name.

I'd love to answer this question...

After meeting with a recruitment consultant in NY when I was ovr there she said that UK designers generally do not have a problem gaining interest from employers.
She said "You guys are taught design i a different way, far more wit and intellegence"*
*not my words
Actually getting a job is a different matter (see working in US thread)

lol awesome. In america its generally not cool to be intelligent. But in England (partly due to the bbc) The attitude is more that the cultural elite do what they do & dont have to pander to a percieved lowest common denominator.
BBC is government funded and operates with that attitude, ("we'll enrich and inspire you even if all you want is porn and football, there are more interesting things.")
So they'd get great shows about the different buildings being consdered for a major architectural award- a bunch of critics walk you through and you really learn, by hearing them critique.
There is a respect for artistry, craft and ideas that is perhaps less common in the states. The US is much more brash so US design often takes on this persona as well.
