i clipped these numbers from the article in CNN directly so im not making up the numbers myself, and as i compare the numbers from CNN to your presentation if it costs 60mil in 2 weeks to train and 6.6 after 33K get work in comparison to $400MILLION per day!!!!!
its worth the headache!!!!
Fire them to make an example!here is the numbers-
Economic losses will add to the inconveniences and frustrations, Bloomberg said.
"Our economy would lose about $400 million per day and would particularly hurt the working families who can least afford it, including thousands who work in the tourism and hospitality industries," Bloomberg said. The city government would lose $22 million a day in tax revenue and overtime police expenditures.
In court papers filed Monday it was estimated that a transit strike would have a devastating effect on the city, costing $440 million to $600 million a day in lost business activity.
Overtime for police officers called in during a strike would add another $10 million a day, the court motion said.

Whoah. Dude.
First, if you've ever dealt with union labor, and I have to the point of exhaustion, you should know damn well that this has absolutely nothing to do with those 33,000 employees. Every NY union is corrupt. It's about them rattling cages. Those employees want this way less than you. During a strike, they don't work, they do not get paid.
Second, you want to talk about crippling the city? Every single one of those employees, if fired, are now entitled to anywhere from 200 to 400 a week in NY state unemployment. Let's tak the low end. If 200 for every person that is 6.6 mil every week until they have new jobs. Now, let's take the average cost of traing new minimum wage personel. Let's say low end 10 bucks an hour, for a two week training period. That's 52.8 million dollars to train personnel, with a grand total of almost 60 mil for that solution.
And we have not added in all the other crap from lost time for the rest of the city and 5 burroughs.
Dontcha think it might be cheaper to send over all the whores and booze they can take to the union officials??

so you are saying its ok for these people to strike and hold a major city almost hostage on the transportation that keeps the city alive...what about the people who are life important like doctors, police officers, firemen, nurses what about them? 33,000 people want better lives and they deserve it, but not by a strike. if someone strikes, and the re-action from their action causes not just financial problems for the city but also life threatening in my eyes they are equal to the terrorists that came in september and murdered innocents!!!!
this happens every single year, every single December this happens where the MTA threatens to go on a strike but at the last second the ysuck it up and cave in and just accept the offers the city makes. but if this keeps happening the MTA never learns and just keeps doing the same thing over and over again.
the current 33,000 need a lesson to be taught to and this is the time where if a strike happens, then the city needs to use equal force back.

if this strike actually happens, Mayor Bloomberg should step up and fire the entire 33,000 MTA workers for crippling NYC.

(Dec 15 05, 15:59)That's what NYC and the 5 burroughs needs. 33,000 fresh unemployed people, and 33,000 new and completely untrained MTA workers.

I imagine the negotiations are going like the Bonnie situation:
Jules:
"We don't wanna fuck up your shit."Jimmy:
"You're fucking my shit up right now!"
- e-pill0
you guys get uniforms?
- Jaline0
Ottawa has had talks of a transit strike for months now. It almost happened a few weeks ago, and students would've been totally screwed.
The drivers still don't wear their uniforms, until they get a nice settlement.
Good luck to you NYers!

i would love to ride my bike to work -
