Dear o'wizened folks of NT. I am redesigning a web site for a company that is very high on search engines.
It is a Yahoo store and we are creating anther site on Yahoo (we are amatuers). We are planning on using both the old domain name and re-routing it to another domain name. Follow?
What are some things I should be looking out for and be wary of so as not to lose SEO placement.
I look forward to hearing your comments of pain and suffering as that is how it seems with SEO.
peace.

theres no way to guarantee same position with a re-design - i'd also hold off on any reciprocal linking you might think of doing because googles seems to be discounting them at the moment - say to the client that with change comes risk then demonstrate how your design will help achieve greater sales (because even with excellent seo you can sill achieve zero conversion) and look on google for "google jagger" to see whats currently making seo-ers lifes hell

if you mean forwarding by 're-routing' I would try not to and prompt the user to click. Forwarding is frowned upon by google.
as per trooperbill I would look at the jagger update thats just happenend but this isnt applicable to yahoo listings.
good luck
