Here's a little known fact
you wouldn't know such facts if the CIA had anything to do with it. Contrary to Bob Marley leftist beliefs, the government doesn't assassinate musicians.
now, i'm not exactly in the CIA. but i did sleep at a holiday inn express once.

fantastic bbc interview:
"ya gotta be a bastard to be big, and the beatles were the biggest bastards of them all..."

I cannot relate any CIA tidbits. However, I did grow up in the military, and around some high ranking officers. It was made very clear to me that in the 70's to 80's, the covert areas of the governement would remove any person genuinely capable of uniting voices of dissidence (sp?).
Lennon was returning FROM obscurity. What do you think would have happened had he decided to suddenly do a free show in Central Park?

Cheers.
Much respect to him and his work.
"So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear ones
The old and the young
"rest in peace

(Dec 8 05, 10:25)Right, sure thing. Anyone see the interview that Ali G had with the Deputy Director of the CIA? Ali G asked him what punishment we should give suicide bombers and also does the white have a plan if someone wants to hijack a train and drive into the white house. Yeah the CIA runs a tight ship you are right

Being an old man, I remember that day like it was yesterday. The huge crowds in the city were a sight only outdone in mass sadness by 9/11.
Imagine being that big and being about world peace and love, as opposed to thug violence/torch songs/teen ditties.
This was a huge man, not necessarily huge in fame, but huge as a person.
I just got this yesterday, great interviews:

I would love to know hoe John Lennon would go down in todays society and what his opinions on the musicians of today would be like.
Many musicians who lived the life, took the drugs, explioted there fame for there own ends (good & bad) have criticized this life. I wish we could get john's opinion on it all. He seemed a man of many shadows but of few secrets.
RIP

the government killed him
- timajick0
self important delusional hippie
- son0
nah, he told alot of truths, thats why he was killed, if he was as you say "delusional" then he'd still be around somewhere doing what he do
- timajick0
You, son, are wrong.
That's a myth.
John Lenon didn't know fuck all.
He wrote great tunes, great hooks, but he was a self centered egotist.
Just cause you package it in a catchy melody don't mean it's true.
