best quote from my grandad was:
"so, i return home to the states and i get into my fathers car and drive over to your grandmothers house. i get pulled over and the cop asks for my license. i told him i didn't have one and he tried to arrest me. so, i was still in uniform and i just pointed to the badges and said 'sir, with all due respect, i was unable to find the time to get my license because i was driving a tank through europe!' he let me off with a warning."

So, when I was in Luxembourg, I stayed at this small B&B stype hotel in the city and I spoke to this oldtimer that said he knows for a fact that Patton was assassinated and he even went as far as to say it might have been the Allies that did it. He was going way too fast and didn't listen to command. The upper ranks were afraid of Patton. I believe he died in a car crash didn't he?

jaz, it is widely known that he may have been assassinated because he wanted to run into russia and take out 'those red bastards' and eisenhower was getting weary of his motives. he was demoted for that very reason. watch the movie 'patton'. great flick, but it touches upon his end politics at the end of the war. it also has one of the greatest opening scenes EVER. seriously rent it. george c. scott is brilliant in it.

and you are right seff, we are all a bunch of little pussies compared to these guys. im turning 24 tomorrow and have dont have anything to show for it seeing as my grandfather pretty much ran through europe and came home by the time he was 21.
