Mos Def is one of my favorite rappers, but I can't even listen to most of the songs on the New Danger. The production killed that album.
oh yeah, anyone got a link to the cage video you can see on a mac. My PC's at home and it says windows only. :(

mos def is good but his albums sound like they are half done. The rock and roll thing-Not feeling it. It sounds like Living Color

"Perfect World" is a pretty funny one- freshly produced by El-P

I think some of El-P's best stuff was on the "collecting the kid" record, the tracks he made for that movie "bomb the system" and the can ox record he produced has got to be some of the most solid production I've ever heard. I have to utterly disagree with you about Mos Def though, the stuff he released with Talib as Black Star and the few 12"s before that were his best songs. I think he's gotten off track since then, his past few records have been just unlistenable....his lyrics are terrible. Mos Def and El-P's music however are going in completely different directions, so I think comparing them is a mute point.

mos def did a good job playing vivian in te hbo film
so it shows the versatility of his work ethic...
opinions are what they are...
but el-productos 'sign to rawkus, i rather be mouthfucked by nazi's unconcious'
to mosdefinates 'rapeover'
as far as content, others relate to me easier

Def Jux is all the same. The same wack shiz since 1997. Mos Def is different. Different in everything he does. It may not be good at times, but at least it sounds different. If you were to sample 10 El-P beats over the past 5 years guarneteed 5-6 of them would be versions of each other.

definitive jux
jux is rob right

I may not know alot about Def Jux or otherwise, but Def Jux is no longer hip hop. I went to one of those Cage Shows, and it was a bunch of people sitting on the floor. Doing hair braids and eating humus. Jux sux.

you're telling me the tracks on collectting the kid sound the same as early el-p production? i don't think so.
also, what's with that recent black star appearance? one-night performance or forthcoming album? anyone know?
- ********0
what do you think
- bauts1060
Wasn't the Black Star appearance part of a show Dave Chappelle organized? I think theres a documentary about it.

And of course can ox and collecting the kid sound different, I'm not saying they do, I'm saying they're by far my favorite El-P productions.

i liked that company flow shit
like "I'm America"my favorite flavor is mustard
i'm fuckin a blonde hermaphrodite icon and convincin you that its justice-
look at the big picture of these groups... ie def jux / black star
they have different connections, ie blackstar's mosdef is also in a band called black jack johnson. kweli has reflection eternal...then they all intertwined in that okayplayer.com thing too...and def jux's elp is weathermen...which goes to copywrite/cage / mhz ect.
so crews are somewhat indefinate, mutually
then you go to content
def jux, specific - elp has been and always will rap about things that mos def will touch on as well...
difference, mos def has a soul feeling, which is my personal opinion, and el-p has a machine-esque delivery or whatever...."Mega-magnetic MRI fingers scanning woman for breast lumps, c'mon chunk"
i know for a fact that he will not hold up in a club, rapping, production is a tangent, we all know he's skilled in that, i've never seen him act...and i'm not a critic -
it all comes toi like both of them
who's better?
ask them - you feel me.
i do have a special spot for mos def because as far as cadence, oh..he can sing too...so thats a plus, but
either way
they both made better debut videos then cage. and no i dont put cage on either of there levels, but for some odd reason, i bought cage's moviesfortheblind and it was the only album purchased in years or so
thas weird, i like eminem way better, and wish they would've battled even tho they took cuts at each other
http://www.undergroundhiphop.com…
i love that cut
but em said some shit,
sprayed cage w/ agent orange, and wiped my ass w/ his page in the source
whatever
one.
