the navigation is way to tricky to master. given up.

I like the nav at the beginning, I just think that when you get to the work stage it needs to have a bit more snap to it.
Also the images for the work don't really show it off. and the type renders poorly.
Apart from that I think it's a good start

Pretty, but I'm one of those annoying types who doesn't like having to learn new things on the internet when I don't have to - your nav is semi- infuriating and I'm curious to see how the ring portions (oo-er) will cope with more clients/sections.
personally, I've always detested little white box nav as well.
i think (not 100% sure) i can break the nav in sections by clicking on the mystery meat boxes before they've loaded and turned white.
Some nice work in there though - I'm curious - why have you split off your blog?
Good luck!
(ps. A South African in Huddersfield? Globalisation, eh?!)

What Nairn said.
Think more about the design rather than how clever flash is.

Don't like the nav so much and I like the movement on the circles even less than having to click them. A much more subtle bounce would help. Other than that, it seems ok. Just tighten up your transitions.

too many clicks to see your work, and then when finally I see some work, you just have these silly angled/blurred closeups that dont show me the work at all, whats that all about then "oh here's some work - but ya cant see it nyah nyah!"
I would rather something simpler with more focus on the work. Good site for another purpose, just not for a folio me thinks.

i agree that you should show your work with better pics. less abstract photos.. and more photos showing your work in the whole pic... not just a corner of a page.
also, with regards to your work - its nice... but i noticed that your fonts that you use are nearly all the same (are you a big fan of DIN?) or was that the client pushing towards those?? anyway those same fonts can make work look all very similar. if this is site is for potential employers.... maybe have a nice mix so you look really versatile. just a thought. but all in all i like it, well done :)

you've got nice work - just don't make the user think.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated, I will take them all into consideration and see how it looks.

There's a spot in the air on your background photo near the outermost circle on your start page. I can't help it, but it annoooooys me, because the rest of the photo is so smooth :)
maybe brush it away?
And no, I don't have an obsessive compulsive must-clean-everything disorder.

just before you choose a project and the work shows, i see a green dot appearing for half a second. Is that meant to be?

- Takes too many click to get to the content. Maybe think about doing a roller to get to the subnav instead of having to click.
- Why the circular navigation? Does it stand for anything? Aesthetically, it does nothing for me. Functionally, it's actually harder to use than a normal menu. Not crazy about the sideways text either, especially when the main nav is right side up.
- Make the 'hit' areas for the navigation the same in ALL nav's (main and sub). Currently, the main nav has a smaller HIT area than the subnav in, for example, the ABOUT section. So, if u rolled over the nav, you wouldn't get a 'rolloff' state unless you completely rollout of the entire nav area. Right now, the main nav has about 20 pixels of rolloff space in between the nav items.
- Make the footer bar less noticeable, it stands out way to much, especialy since it doesn't even contain anything 'that' important' (ie. contact info).
- When I choose a portfolio item, make one of the lil boxes show a 'hit' state so I can tell which one I'm viewing.
- When I choose an item from the subnaviogation, the content loads and then the nav reanimates IN. it shouldn't do that, seems like a bug. I was in the PRINT section.
- BuckMark print work is dope btw. very dope. I'd make that really prominate if I were you.
- Why not change the background image while going in between sections? The current image doesn't do anything for me. What is it? What does it stand for? Seems like a dull photograph rather than a design element.
- Use less of the photographs. Choose your best 10, get rid of the rest. Some of them are nowhere near as good as the others. Put your best foot forward.
- get a logo. you make great logos, why not have one for urself.
That's all from my end. Hope it helps.

yeah I like the idea, but I would incorporate the circles into more of a theme or stronger idea. They don't really flow with the boxiness of the site, maybe a square nav with solid boxes?
- springbok0
the green dot was a preloader. I had forgot about that, i will remove it thanks
- springbok0
thanks davi-t comments are much appreciated and will definetly improve the site
cheers

There is no way to see your digi stuff in the portfolio...

Show us what you want us to see quickly and effectively, and get rid of anything that reminds the viewer of Flash circa 2001. We're all too smart now (hopefully) to be impressed by clever navigation.

its funny, whenever an internets person wants to say something like "thatstyle is old", its like they always have to add on at least 2 years so if they had ACTUALLY seen a style or something in 2003, they would actually say "that shit is so 1999" or "I did that style in 2000" just incase a cooler internets person came along with an example slightly earlier than their 2003...

hello ! the main navigation is quite tricky at first. try display the fonts which i think it will be easily recognizable. The back button is sweet..! good job on the circle animation.! sorry for my poor english :P

The whole concept behind the site is to have my site grow and develop as I do. (hence the growth rings concept) The images in the background change depending on what time of day it is (to add a bit of variety). If you change the clock on your machine it should change the image in the Bg. I tried to create a site that was a little interesting and different.
Really appreciate the comments.
