There are rumors that Microsoft has intentionally short stocked the new XBOX 360 to create hype. This theory was denounced in a Business Week article by a top Microsoft exec.
It wouldn't surprise me if they did do this. You always want what you can't have.
Oh and does anyone know of anywhere you "can" actually find one of these things? Besides the idiots selling them on ebay for like 2 Grand.
- kelpie0
of course they did that.

that's what they always do. to create demand, people will try harder to get a product if they think its in short supply.
it was done with the ps1, ps2, psp, gamecube, infact most of the consoles in recent years.

here might not be enough games for the launch and those that are ready have been rushed through production.... i so i read somewhere.

They didn't do it on purpose. They were in such a rush to get it out before the PS3 to get foot in't market, that they din't make enough.

The lack of Xbox is 3 fold.
1, Ship small quantities to create hype and demand
2, Not enough games are XPox ready and those that are available are not necessarily the donkey kneebone.
3, It had to be rushed out in time for xmas.
ohh ... and I said tities!!

I just played one about an hour ago...
Fucking PONY!!!
I played perfect Dark zero, I was nothing a high end PC couldn't do (And this is coming from a mac user!!!). I work at Glue London and in the room next to our office is press conference hosted my Microsoft and there is about ten machines set up. I also watch my mate play Kameo... I am not impressed!

Well, it seems eBay is the only place you can get one now. But there are some reasonably priced ones there. I'm selling one. If you take into consideration that I waited (and suffered) 8 boring hours in the cold overnight to get one, and since they're rare nation-wide, markup isn't that unreasonable. I made sure my price made sense. Some people however are getting greedy and pricing theirs at 2 grand or above, like you say.
Check my listing out:

2 F@$*ING gees, for an Xbox... Do know kind of shit you could do with that doe?.... Get wasted, then get you and your mates some top brass and go all out... And thats a great way to blow 2K!

I kid you not, when I was waiting at another Wal-Mart to get my premium Xbox 360, someone bought a space in line for $850.

Why wait in the cold for 8 hours for something just to stump it up on ebay?
Hope you get a crap price for it you capitalist!
: )

LOL
Really, though, it is win-win. Think about little Timmy who wants a 360 so bad for Christmas, and his parents aren't going to suffer in line for 8 hours in the cold, but will happily pay a little extra to get one, make Timmy happy, and avoid the launch-day frenzy. Without people like me, people like little Timmy would be shit out of luck this holiday.

good ol Capitalism , I hear there is a new control coming out with CRTL ALT Delete ,
I agree looks like crap for a "Next gen system" but then again I had nothing but hate for the first xbox, now its my go to system, cube and ps2 are collecting dust ... $2000 buys 100 cheap bj's

Heh. It seems a lot of Xbox forums are down because they're too busy. Even xbox.com!
