Does anyone have problems with InDesign links? We constantly have to relink images after opening files from our non-Mac server. Is this an InDesign issue or a Mac/Non Mac server problem?

are you changing the links at all? also, if you hold down option and double click a link, it will open up in the native software automatically. make any changes, save and close. the link will update automatically in InDesign.

how now brown cow (girl)
we have the same exact problem here - our pc brainwashed it department refuses to get us a xserve, so we are dealing with having to connect to a pc server - and it definitely sucks. have to relink the images every single time.
one sorta-fix i found was to drag the whole project folder to your desktop, work off of that while working on the project and you wont run into the re-linking issue. then when the project is complete, just copy that folder back to the server.
saves a lot of time and frustration.
hope that helps!!

Thanks for the suggestion. I may try that and tell some other people to try it -- as long as they remember to RESAVE the file on the server.
I did a search on Adobe's site and they had 2 suggestions.
1. Download the InDesign 3.0.1 update (which I did a while ago and it obviously didn't work).
2. Buy CS2. (because updating software in a big, corprate setting is oh-so-efficient)gee, thanks Adobe.
