grey on orange next to white = big no no

i may be slow today but is the yellow backround really functional when it comes to writing/printing?
- DavidFelt0
Yeah my thoughts too, my intern/work placement wanted to do it like that, so i said wed see what you guys think, thanks for proving me right!

Ah! my eyes hurt!
- kelpie0
'scuse me for being slow dave, but is the yellow not on the back?
- forcetwelve0
i like the layout — but that letterheads not going to fax so well!
- DavidFelt0
Nah, it was his idea to have the letterhead orange! he has to learn bless him, dont be too hard, what about the mark though? any thoughts on that, or any other interesting ways of implementing it better to the letterhead????
- kelpie0
good point. David, have you thought of putting some friendly smiling faces on it? perhaps an ethnic here or there, you know? people like that sort of thing...
- BigDee0
It may just be me, but i would normally be signing my name right over that address...
Get a letter from your office/studio and overlay it so you can see how it would look when used. Sounds obvious, but issues become more apparent.
- DavidFelt0
No wno kelpie, stick to the matter at hand! ;)
I like the mark, kind of abstract... but i reckon the white letterhead, whilst being functional, lacks something, cant put my finger on it, it just looks really weak at the mo IMO...
- DavidFelt0
No BigDee, you got the wrong impression, im not the intern doing this, the intern working for me is doing it!
Also, ive seen letterheads with address details in other places than the traditional top left/top right...
come on guys, be constructive, if you leave it to me ill just tell him its shite and to sort himself out before disgracing himself again!!!! LOL
- kelpie0
have you thought about printing it up with the yellow on the back? always looks nice, I reckon, white front/coloured back...
I like the marque too, but I'd like to see it layed up on it's own :)
but really, a nice smiling ethnic woman and BIGGER LOGO dave, come on ;)

Maybe it's just too light overall? Pastel colours and a very soft airy mark. This client has a very definite 'offer' and this just looks quite nice without saying much. What's the thinking behind it?
I don't think there's any problem with a yellow letterhead for overprinting, but the white and grey text will get lost in fax/photocopy.
Then again, how important is that nowadays? They're an IT company with a modern product - will they photocopy or fax anything or do it paper-free?
IMHO maybe it needs more oomph. To use the technical term...
- DavidFelt0
The thinking behind the marque is that its a corner of a clean modern room without any wires or obstrusive plugs etc...
- MrT0
I like that a lot... but I didn't get that from the mark?
- DavidFelt0
yeah it is kinda abstract, but the client is happy with that, all they want is clean and modern... but i HAVE to keep those colours, not my choice, but not all that bad either.......

I don't know what I think about the logo being there twice in two different sizes. I'd either move the graphic in the back or move the logo and address to join the graphic on the top right.

Hi - just a thought - but why not have the marque white out of the yellow on the reverse of the letterhead, then the face of the letterheads can be kept white with just the wee marque and details.
- DavidFelt0
good idea spanna, trouble is having spoken to the client, turns out hes going to print them himself, so double sided letterheads and nice print effects are out, guess ill have to make sure the design is even 'tighter'!

Lose the big logo on both sides, and on the outisde [orange/yellow side] just have the logo, no address lines...
Overall I like the type and placement of the address/logo block on the inside
that's my 2 pence...
