isn't it about time that the industry changed its ways?
if your car is bust, they can loan you one out.
computer after sales has always been a joke.
they can sell you a new machine to collect the next day but when it goes wrong it'll take a week.
complain to the MD

wow, that's bad service. I guess I am spoiled by Dell's at home service, but with Apple's die hard fans, I would have guessed the support was good. Guess not.
Is there at least an option to have at home support on laptops?

be sure to clean the inside of your g5 once a month with compressed air...they never figured out the cooling system and crap will just keep melting if it's not cleaned...that's why my logic board went

once a month? really? I've never heard that.

yeah i thought the service guy was crazy...really though when you think about it, the engineers couldn't figure out how to cool the processor so the entire front and rear of the tower are grates...then add a huge fan sucking shit in all the time...the tech said he couldn't even see my logic board it was so dusty

i may have said this before, but i suggest people start buying computers from people who build computers to work, not look good as an accessory in a corner coffee shop

at least once a day ;)

i am saying that as thier popularity increases thier quality decreases, i know several people with macs, i grew up in a mac house in fact
my only point is that computers do not fail on thier own without some sort of defect, but more often than not, user error creates the problem be it a windows or osx system
it can not be overlooked that physical dimensions cause 99% of apple hardware failure. make the thing an extra 1/2" thicker and use a less heat conductive meatal in production, you might just see a decline in problems and failure
if a company such as apple continues to knowingly put a new worthless product to market every 3 months with no concern with its longevity I choose to boycott that company and seek out alternative products
as a 4 yr dell advocate, i have absolutely no regrets in going windows, i've never seen the blue screen of death on my desktop or laptop.
to sum it up, yes i am saying mac sucks because Steve Jobs is a money hungry twat that Bill gates needed to spur competition with. had gates not given $200 million to apple in 1997 we never would have been introduced to the ilife.
quality or quantity in business is either/or, never both, jobs has obviously made his decision by allowing only authorized manufacturers to build their products whioch keeps costs high and prgress slowed
and then theres this:

sucks. in our profession, especially if you are self-employed, you not need to only buy 1 computer, but 2! one as a primary and one as a backup. any other ways around this if you don't own your own backup?

I have a pc as well and it crashes all the time. It's a nice self built pc. I went for all of the best stuff and it still crashes with photoshop or flash.
- version30
my experience with pcs is to get compatible parts it may sound dumb but some ram causes alot of problems and 5400rpm harddrives cause things to foul, its nice to find that balance of speed and functionality

Macs are either great, or trouble ridden. It varies on a case by case basis. I know some people who have had things go wrong one after another. Mac service and parts over here is terrible. A mate of mine had to wait over a month to get a logic board for his G4 iBook. Another had funny coloured lines all over the screen while another had half of his keyboard stop working.
Gotta wonder what their QC was doing the week these guys iBooks passed their noses.
At the same time, my 2 PCs have shat themselves and I'm left with 2 workshorse macs...
