Any guesses on what 'theoralizability' means?
It's in this sentence (in a journal article I'm summarizing for a presentation tomorrow):
"She is not arguing that there is one kind of feminism, or woman, or one kind of equality. But that the debate should focus on recognizing different feminisms rather than questioning their theoralizability. We should use the dialogues between feminisms to build connections between these communities of women."
I can't figure out if this means 'theorizability'. I don't think it's a typo though.
The author also doesn't capitalize nations, countries, or racial identities 'to underscore their artificial borderlines'. Sounds hokey to me, but not my problem. I have to put this 30-page thing into a 1page handout.
I checked Google, and, sure enough, the only place this word is found is in the actual journal article I'm doing.

Well. look at the words it is made up of. Ya know, theorize and ability.
"rather than questioning their (different feminisms) ability to theorize....]"
dig?
i was going to say more. but that is enough for me. peace.

hmmm
in context: "validity as intellectual constructs"
or: rather than framing the debate in terms of academic differences, one should focus on the foundational similarities -- how can one foster community and dialogue rather than bickering over semantics?
*"theoralizabilty" was probably coined during the Intelligent Design debates... look for the official definition in Webster's New Kansas Edition.

haha, thanks guys. I ended up just modifying it so that the word wasn't there anymore. I don't want to be caught not fully understanding a word while presenting.

it's gone? i think it meant the conceptualization of itself. the sentence means that the debate should focus on expanding the concept rather than keep re-shaping itself.

why can't academics ever get to the point.
- winter0
that's the point.

when my Phd kicks off i'll be starting a campaign to rid academia of bullshit meandering.
