Sounds like you have to work for yourself if you want to make any kind of money in this business.
But at the same time, most people working for themselves are putting in more than the standard 40 hour work weeks.

I am so poor I use stale bread for shoes that double as my lunch, the walk home is a nightmare and people throw glass in my path.

one of these years I hope to be as poor as rasko.

just pray that you dont also suffer the plague of dogs that chase you home, sniffing at the cancer in your bones.
that can be a bind.

I have to borrow toast from rasko for my shoes. That's the main reason I throw glass at him in the afternoons...

it makes me happy to know that there are great men out there, and I can rest assured in the knowledge that the world is truly just in rewarding these praiseworthy individuals.

I am a bad man, not through aspiration, but disinclination

cinder...my life only recently became financially stable. i was stuck at a job where i was purely learning and never banking anything. i had a take home weekly check of $500, and i live in NYC. luckily i have a wife who helped me thru the years.
i have left that gig and started pursuing what i have been working oh so very hard these last few years as the knowledge i have aquired in my design abilities. i have researched high and low for those salaries i heard so much about but was never able to taste the fine luscious victory on my lips.
until just very recently. so i am all so very new to all this fun loving cash!
i have no skills in saving any money nor do i have any idea to keep it saved.
my brother in law is my accountant and he crunches all my numbers so i can start writing things off and paying my taxes.
i deduct 45% from every check for unkle sam. and then i figure out what i appox. spend per month with bills, food, and rent and i deduct that number from all the checks i get per month and the rest i throw into savings.
the day i save 1million real easte will be in NYC 10billion for an apartment and all i have saved will be for that large bag of weed i will have to buy!!!
:)
its all in your head, if you tell yourself you make a certain amount and then feed that to your next client, hopefully you will have teh skills to back yourself up.
im still learning and going to have so much fun along the way!!! i suffered so many years and now im going to make the real money i ws destined for! i will never settle aagain for anything less either!!!
feels great to know that everything i worked so hard for in this industry is finally paying off.
also just so you know, i am a product accessory designer. in this industry, if you are hungry enough, the salary i have is just the regular norm, there are offcourse much higher salaries but also those jobs need a ton of job experience that i dont have just yet.
in another 7 years i can triple what i am making now.
good luck and never settle and always get it in writing!!!!

epill.. what kinds of stuff fall under product accessory.. like are you deisgning pieces or is it print to go on them?
- e-pill0
i am a product designer.
i merchandize and conceptualize entire bag collections. i research trends in all markets and bring what i deem designable to my tastes to the concepts i make.
i create all the hardware and logo treatments to the patterns that make up each case. i design backpacks, cd wallets, handbags, small leather goods, camera bags, laptop bags, messengers automotive accessories, desk accessories...the list goes on on on!!!
its very challenging and the rewwards are just amazing!! walking the streets and seeing the target customers purchasing my designs or designs i was part of creating is better than anything else!!
but in the end of the day, i iwatch cartoons and play with my action figures and just have fun!!
smile!! and go make some six figures!!!
