Does any one know if you can stream flash video without hosting it on a flash communication server?
I've read confilciting reports. Some say it is possible to stream flash video just using flash player 7/8 without the communication server.
Anyone know the beta about this?
(I don't have any raw video so I cant test this myself right now.)

doesn't flashcomm server allow for actual streaming, vs just playing an flv regularly (ie: progressive download)
one you can scrub in real time, the other only plays what's downloaded already

No, but you can buffer and progressively download a swf with just the player on a standard server config.

so with streaming you cant scrub forward?
Can you scrub forward with any type of streaming play back, ie QT?
- Mimio0
Yeah, it just renegotiates and buffers again.

It's won't preview while you scrub though.
