The grey header are is taking up a lot of vaulable space. Is there a reason for that? Are you gonna put something there such as a featured project or something? If not, I'd say trim it down and move everything up the page.
- Moo0
wasn't thinking of putting anything up there but it an idea thanks asprin

I link the arrow and the rounded boxes but I think the content needs some more work.
I mean the bottons and some kind of seperation colour for the work area - looks a bit wierd with the same bg colour for work and the box.
- Moo0
was thinking that myself

It kinda feels like you are selling something (i know yourself) - it just feels consumer oriented.
Simple Sells.

Thank m00

Header is too big. Sub menu is a bit lost. And the work needs a border. Nice colours though.
- kelpie0
yup, couple of good elements there, but not a site yet. keep going :)
- Moo0
thanks fello nters for the comments so far
- kelpie0
actually, I'd strip away everything apart from the arrow menu thingy and the logo and make the rest super minimal and a bit scrolly.
and you can have that for free ;)

Simple is the key, keep the work prominent and let it speak, get rid of everything that doesnt 'Need' to be there. Use a one page folio, or a simple slideshow concept like non-format to let your work do the talking!
IMO obviously
- Moo0
thanks kelpie will have to contact you for more free bees
- kelpie0
don't listen to david, he talks pish on here all the time...
(I'll be charging you for that one)
- kelpie0
;)
- Moo0
was thinking of that dave but it seems everyone is doing it including yourself. I guess I should conform to it
- DavidFelt0
Dont conform necessarily, but the fact everyone is saying it, maybe means that theres something in it, such as:
Simplicity
Ease of navigtion
Not distracting or detracting from your work(s)Just keep these things in mind I reckon, or like Kelpie said, dont listen to me, I talk shite! LOL
- kelpie0
everybody is doing it cos it works though, alhtough I know what you mean. My advice would be to find one or two striking elements to hang the pages around and cut all the rest (nice round corner boxes, drop shadows etv) save that stuff for your commercial work - client love it cos it make it look like the "spent loads of cash" on their site, but your folio should be about simple function and layout (with a bit of "swish" thrown in of course)
- kelpie0
or of course, you could follow my lead and not bother having one, I mean, everybody knows it's way cooler NOT to have a portfolio ;)

A german internal server error is indeed the way to go.
Kelpie, what was the name of the night you used to run in glasgow? Do you ever go to a night called haptic?
- kelpie0
A german internal server error is indeed the way to go.
-----bastards, they tried to send me a letter whivh never got to me and are now telling me I don't live where I live so have blitzed my account.
I might add that I organised the space on the indirect advice of mssrs Moth, Sonthonax and indeed your cheery self.
I hate the interweb :(
