Awhile ago I was laid off my job in Denver after 2 months of working there. I moved from Chicago to live out here and it's been pretty crappy to say the least.
Since then I've traveled to 3 states to see friends and get my head together. It's been a wild ride this year and now I want to give a shot at freelancing with some development friends of mine.

mike, how's the job market in denver in your opinion?

From what I can tell Denver is a very tight market. It won't take long to get your name out and about. That can be good if you are a good designer and a nice person, bad if you are a jerk because I got a feeling once you get a bad rep you'd have to move out of Denver.
To be honest I don't have enough experience to make an opinion yet.

It's going ok. I've been traveling for a couple of weeks and I'm trying to get back into the swing of design.
Travel is pretty good for the soul in my opinion. All I want to do now is work, eat, and save my pennies for more travel.

Mike, are you hooked up with Aquent out there?
I'm coming out in January and will most likely be there for a bit. I'm trying to get stuff in line right now. Are you giving up on CO and moving somewhere else or hanging there?

Denver is really nice. The truth is I have 10 months on my lease so I can't even think of leaving till around there.
I'll go wherever good work calls though. All I want to do is make some quality stuff, no matter where I am I'm in front of these comptuers..

the aquent people are crap in denver compared to other cities...at least they were a couple of years ago.
there are lots of jobs out there right now, and even more contract work, which is nice :)

Well, I know Aquent Boston has been great for me but I'm not 100% sure of the scene out there. I am getting some names from my rep in Boston of peeps to call out there but, it can't hurt at this point so I would tell you to give Aquent Denver a call. The worst that can happen is that nothing changes but at least you tried.
I will be out there in December for XMAS.....and right now I am thinking of making my stay a MUCH longer one. I would definitely be down to meet up and talk shop with you and any/all of the other CO peeps. I love it out there. My parents live in Castle Rock. I have an older cousin who is making some great cash doing cool freelance work and loving it. I am hoping that I can sit down and talk with her, but I'm not 100% on that because her and I aren't the best of friends.
Anyway, that was probably more info than you or anyone else cares about but I figured I would drop it anyway. Feel free to drop me an email. I know there is an NTer from Cali moving to CO in Jan for a permanent stay. We should all have a Denver meet up around the first week of Jan.

Ya, definitely. I had a meeting setup with the CG here in Boston to get all set up with them but then I landed my current contract through Aquent so I cancelled it.
Are you still in CO sputnik?

yep...right now is a beautiful time to move! weather's amazing and anticipation for the snow season is almost too much to bear :)
