cool good tips..... but how do I get less words in there if the client indeed wants thename of the business IN the logo?
Tnx gang!

Can you italicize the font?
- pixelEngine0
yeah i can, which part ya think..... moon?
- visualplane0
All of it, then try making it all the same font size. I think it would look funny if you italicized only one of the words.

whats a half moon / fish look like? maybe play with those shapes and see if something happens. or full moon.
the texture seems appropriate for the fishing resort / lodge. so it works alright.

and yes, black and white is the true test. good advice.
- pixelEngine0
Yeah I like the 'worn' look, even though its quickly becoming so 2004 ;)
But it fits the lodge and the atmosphere/age of it all.

it needs to be bigger

this looks like a tshirt you bought at urban outfitters. can you try it non-distressed?
- pixelEngine0
Version, I dig it... can I ask what U use to distress your work? I usually find a good texture on iStockPhoto and adjust levels and overlay in PS.
Thanks!

Lose the distress. The logo will look dated really quickly if you use trends found in clothing at the mall. Work on the basic form and type, it's heading in a good direction.

well, i use everything vector so I know you're using a distressed font "Macelle Script" and the swashes that accompany this font, that's how I made mine look just like yours
so anyone suggesting he lose the distress should understand that he probably won't
i use vector distressing by taking photos of concrete and leveling them out to black and white
then i vector trace that
after that i use the vector distress to "trim" the piece in question
again though, changing the g should be a main priority regardless if you use distress or not

I was just about to write the same thing (about the font). I had to do a quick site for my band for a gig and ended up using Marcelle.
LOSE THE FONT.....or, at least make it your own. I would recommend losing the distressed look as well.....it is dated. My band site is a year old and I haven't touched the design of it since (only updated the info).....and, if my band hadn't broken up, I had a redesign started that eliminated the distressed look in my type.

i like that site designnaked
*still a fan of the distress
