If, of course, if you feel that the US is the absolute centre of reality, and that the last 5 years worth of talks on H1 flu and vaccine development held in Asia and the many reported deaths/coverups n China have just been preparation for this moment. But yeah, I know what you mean.

As much as I don't like Bush, Rumsfeld, Rove. etc. I would not say the bird flu is an excuse to take the attention away from them. The flu has the potential to really do harm without preperation. I would look at Bush's two most recent Supreme Court nominations as more of a distraction from the administrations corruption. And yes ... burn mofos burn.
