Exactly what some ppl have already said.
It's just easier to break it off over the internet. Sometimes I even think about what I would do in that situation and how I would absolutely HATE to break it up like that. I would only do that if there was some solid reason to not see them face-to-face (ie. long-distance), otherwise I definitely wouldn't do it. Especially if both of you have the same or similar friends. It just wouldn't go over well.
Basically, I would do it face-to-face, but it's obvious as to why people wouldn't. It's just an easy way out. God forbid someone should actually have some emotions during the face-to-face breakup.

If she wasn't feeling well about the relationship for some time, then it was mature of her to break up with you. But since she did it over the internet, she's not being as mature. Although, I'm wondering if breaking up in a way other than face-to-face is immature, or if it's just b/c it's easier.
