The news came in...
From where I see it he was nowhere near the escalator.
- JazX0
well you don't just fall from an escalator. some foul play had to be involved or he was being stupid by goofing around
still god aweful

So sorry to hear this. No way you could have saved him. Had you tried to blunt his fall you would have died too.
Take care

to all:
What is the most important specific event that has ever transpired in your puny lives?
Without argument it is your birth [for the catho-holics you can argue your conception, whatever]; therefore the only event that can supercede this in scale is your death.
I don't think anyone can argue with that. Moving on my logical, yet ridiculous argument wouldn't it be better to have a terror filled death than a peaceful one? I mean if it were me I would rathe get ripped apart and eaten by a grizzly bear than lay in a hospital bed and slip away. I think the more horrific your death the bigger shot of naturally produced DMT will be released in your system.
Spongebob take heart as experiencing this is a grim reminder of how through life we are all sentenced to death. What is interesting is how when shit like this happens we, and this is not a criticism of spongebob, tend to go on cruise control and bob about in a daze tackiling mundane tasks.
I have seen death and experienced cruise control followed up by a wave of confusion, emotion, and misunderstanding.
Sorry that you got zapped by reality, hope you somehow make this experience a poignant exclamation point of experience that can drive you to a more rewarding life.
The important thing to understand is 'thats life'.

denver: that didn't help one bit.
i was up till 6am here because each time i close my eyes the video replays.
i haven't watched enough violence or death to be desensitized by it, but i don't need to see them to fully enjoy life.
if i haven't been able to just walk away from someone who died in pain, twitching right before my very eyes, please understand.

Sounds like a horrible sight to behold. I think I would have done the same thing. There is no way I could have looked away.

I truly feel for you. I think I will have nightmares just thinking of it. I wish you the best in recovering from such a traumatic event. I hope you have a lot of strong people close who you can count on. Life will go on and it will be okay. Condolences.

That's awful, sorry to hear that :(
- dijitaq0
damn.. so sorry to hear that.
if you had tried to break his fall you might have been at least seriously injured. the impact might even kill you both.

survivor's guilt is a bitch
but not uncommon
you might talk to a counselor or something about it

my girl told me that according to police investigations as published in the papers, that guy was a Malay snatch thief who was escaping.
- Peter0
Messed up. You got to deal with that right away.
Was a guy here who positioned himself right in front of the train. There was no mistake in what he was doing, but regardless you can't help to feel a bit guilty. "What if I talked him out of it?", that sort of thing running around in your mind.
In your case I don't think there was anything anyone could have done. The guys holding on to him, maybe. People down on the pavement, no.
