Have any of you designed and printed bookmarks before? What would be a cost efficient way to get some nice ones printed?

do one color, and you could probaly do at least 8up on a sheet, would be the same price as some business cards.

i just use a playing card.
a "nudie" one from the 70's.

ive done bookmarks on two occasions. once we did 2 color, and once 4 color, both were fairly cost effective. Choose a nice, thick, coated stock as coated will stand up to wear and tear much better than unocated paper will....they just gang them up at the printer with a ton on the pressheet at once so i dont remember it being very cost-prohibitive or anything like that...
