I recently got a mac mini and I am not ready to give me pc up yet. I have an external Lacie 250 GB HD and The Mini can access the files just fine, but it can of course not write on it.
Is there any solution to move files from the mini onto the HD?

what error do you get?

you are going to need to partition it in two format one windows, one mac.

yep, format 125gb for each

how exactly would I do that? No clue about how to create a mac partition

and while we're at it... how do you delete programms? I've installed some waves vsti effects and it created a ton of files spreaded over the mini HD.
is there any way to get rid of them all at once?
thanks

Format the drive in FAT32 format and windows and mac will be able to read the whole thing.
To delete programs just drag them to the recycle bin.

You need to be sure to format the drive under the Mac os X. it will give you choice as to what file structure to use.
Windows will not allow FAT32 drives to be 250gb. but it will read a 250 FAT32 partition just fine.
On a side note. I find it more helpful to share files between Mac PC over a network. so if you have a network; share the driver off you PC and connect to it through the Mac. TCP/IP is a language both OS's can speak so there are no worries about using FAT32 or NTFS.

backing up a 250 gb hard drive before reformatting it would be a time consuming task... good luck with that

um, cos OS X has a unix backend, can't you install a Mac version of Samba on the Mac, and then share files safely with NTFS and FAT32 partitions?
