Anyone know how to network a scanner on PC's?
We have a multipurpose machine (OfficeJet 6110xi) and we (meaning I of course) wish to connect it so it can scan documents to then fax (and of course having a scanner setup in a network is very practical).
I hope some light will be shed on this (and no, we won't be magically all getting macs).

you first need to make sure your machines are all networked together.
you have a Systems Admin?

We only have a max of 5 computers hooked up.
"Systems Admin" that isn't a person now is it? If so, then no.
But as for a network label, I don't know....
follow?

man, you got me. I would say treat it like a printer, but that wouldnt necessarily work.
I found this:

What kinda scanner is it? The install cd may have some networking software.

you need to network your computers together and to that machine and control it via one app.
you can access one scanner much the same as you would a printer bro

you may need one of these to do it, it connects usb to ethernet like a print server. there has to be a way to do it though. seems possible with HPscanners, not sure what you have though.
