Mediatemple the designers choice?

in my opnion, (mt) is hands down the best hoster out there.
ive been with other hosters, with only email tech support, and really rediculous fees..
i personally needed a backend with the ablity to change email accounts, add users, mangage my own direcotries, password protection, stats etc..
i now host clients under my site charging them for hosting, and enabliing stats which i can spit out to excel etc for them

If mediatemple wasn't down every week I'd probably suggest them.

STEP 1: Knowledge Base
The absolute fastest way to get answers to most of your questions is to search through our extensive online documentation. We call it our "Knowledge Base."
If you'd rather not browse through categories, you can search through our knowledge base using keywords!
STEP 2: Discussion ForumsCan't find an answer in our knowledgebase? Browse through our discussion forums. Some of our more knowledgable customers and a few of our employees frequent the forums on a regular basis.
Chances are if you can't find it in the knowledge base, it's already been answered in the forums!
STEP 3: DreamHost Technical SupportWhen all else fails, you can contact our technical support team. We strive to answer all emails within 24 hours, and most are answered in subtantially less time.
Some of our hosting plans even include a limited amount of 'call-backs' per month! Send us an email, request a call-back, and you'll get a call from one of our friendly technical support representatives - when you tell us to!
To contact our technical support team, simply log in to your account control panel, click the 'support' tab, and submit your message!

haha they totally ripped off (mt)... our extensive online documentation. We call it our "Knowledge Base."
"We strive to answer all emails within 24 hours"
yea, but you dont...
Some of our hosting plans even include a limited amount of 'call-backs' per month!
key words, "some" and "limited"
tell me that when its 3 am and i cant get my php to work.
i call (mt) all the time at 3 am with questions... always there to help me through whatever i am doing

if i needed to call my host at 3am to figure out some php shit, i would take it as a hint not to work with php and go to bed.

don't listen to derek, mediatemple has the worst uptime i've ever seen and he works for them
- -scarabin-0
i canceled my mediatemple account after being frustrated with all their problems and they continued billing me for months afterward
(and yes i went through all their account canceling protocol properly)

i dont work for media temple...

i have no problem with them...
dreamhost sucked ass when i was with them...

i strongly recommend DreamHost as well. They have fantastic customer service, for ANY level of user type one may be, their up-time is by far one of the best out there, and their turn-key options that are enabled by default are just great.
(mt) get's tons of hype here and on every other creative's boards there is, and while they are good, i just do not see the cost justification. and yes, i do have several clients hosted there, but only because they somewhat requested it.
my 2 neuvo soles...

dreamhost all the way. used them four times so far, no problems at all in my experience.
mt seems to be the cliche choice. and with all the stories ive heard, ive stay away.

I dont have many problems with (mt) ....
They answer my tickets within less then an hour... they answer the phones 8 times out of 10...and if not I get a call back within 2 hours....
They dont just do what you ask with canned responses... they actually tell you that what you are asking might cause security issues and other complications...
I wanted to take it off safe mode...they pointed me to an article that I should read about the complications... so then without them changing it ....I tried the install....and I got joomla working without all the settings that were supposedly necessary....
and thats just on their shared server.... I have been with them since about 2001 when Demian, CEO was still answering the phones.

Dreamhost is in the same building as media temple...
http://blog.dreamhost.com/2005/0…
near the bottom : There are LOTS of other internet companies in this building
- version30
if it weren't for media temple you probably would have never asked that question here
