i need to come up with a day rate for a "perma-lancing" job. where i would be full time freelance, but they would withhold taxes.
what i am told is to think of the amount i would pay for medical, and also realize that holidays are not paid.
i guess what i am asking is, how many working days are there a year???? (which would not include holidays and other days "off")
i figured i would take that amount, divide it by 12 (months) add in my medical and divide by 20 (evg working days a month).
how does that sound?

day rate = ur screwing urself.
There's always crazy deadlines and you will always end up working 12 hour days. If you absoultely need to, multiple what you would normally make a day at a FT job BY TWO (x2). Make sure to let them know.. .if u work two hours out of the day u will charge a whole day. Thats the whole point of a day rate. If they don't agree tell em hourly.

hourly rate x 2000 = yearly rate

yea i am unsure about this whole day rate thing.
its for a big company (part of viacom - but NOT mtv) so i feel its kind of a good way to get my food in the door.
