we used to live out in the hillbilly country nextdoor to an old guy called leroy. the first time my mom met him, he was out in the fields branding and castrating some cattle. she hiked out into the pasture to introduce herself (neighbourly, like) and he turned round to her, a bowie knife between his teeth, blood trickling out one side of his mouth down into his zz top beard, tobacco juice trickling out the other and brandished a red-hot iron at her, saying round the knife, 'so, where do you want it?'

haha! you would've loved him chossy. he had this brother, earl, who used to make all sorts of mad shit and stuff out of bailing twine. furniture, mostly. that fellah could make a killing if he were still alive. it's all campana brothers meets outsider art.
