Brooke has natural ability that 99% of graphics artist will never have. No matter how hard they try.

personal taste should not aloow one to become bitter and mean toward each other.brooke is very good... at what she does. to me it seems that most all of her work (that i've seen here) is derived from a photo. always giving her reference to draw from, straying only slightly from the original photo.
while contracts may need a tweak here an edit there, there is no real inspiration drawn from her work as the content hasn't changed only the media (from photo to illustration)
sometimes those designs, pieces that are thrown together are much more inspirational than these illustrated facsimiles
to sum up:
i like all of this
http://www.banksy.co.uk/menu.htm…more than i do this
http://lifeinvector.com/even though it seems obvious that brooke is much more intricate in her approach, i am more inspired and provoked by banksy
there are others i could have compared to i only wanted to make a point and had no intention of insulting anyone in the process, i hope i haven't

gfro, you sound silly. And even though I love brookie-poo and her work, elevating it to a high form of artwork is misguided and naive. In the end, it is simply meticulous attention to detail and tracing photos, however good she may be at it. There's a reason she calls herself an illustrator and not an Artiste.
And honestly, I think the latter label is bullshit. Being a designer/illustrator is much more favorable than tracing photos for the fuck of it and injecting some "meaning" into it. Brooke's work simply exists as either solutions for clients or monuments to her enormous ability.

personally i see it as more of a technical craft rather than an art.
if the subject matter were to change.. then it could definitely drift over towards art.

i love brooke's work.
personally i don't think it's "art".
i don't think it's her intention... but maybe it is?
if i say it's art, it is. © duchamp
it's all about intention. most of the work that the NT faithful do, is not art.
my 2 cents.

It's not design. It's illustration. It's realistic but not photorealistic. Some creative choices were made and the result is astonishing. Now, stop splitting hairs and using snobby semantics and agree she might be the best illustrator on NT.

we all love brooke.
many amazing talents out there.
art is not to be compared.
art is to be appeciated as what it is.

okay, you're right. I'm wrong. Congrats on the victory!

All art is attention to detail (yes, broad and sweeping statement). Even artists who create abstract can pay close attention to detail. Anything that isn't created with some sort of thought and planning is not art. I think Brooke is a great artist and her [artwork] kicks ass.

You don't have to be good at illustrator and be able to trace a photo to be a good designer.
Designing is about problem solving.
Have said that the nd result is a bit mind blowing

(Oct 4 05, 12:02)No Art isn't. It's about expression, emotion and compassion.
Liquid, I'm araid to say it was a trace, an exact trace. I have a copy of Photoshop Advanced (new mag) and she did an article in it about how this image was created.
I think do still think Brookes skills are second to none and as you said it certainly pays the bills, and gets you recognition as I have printed proof.
- liquid0
interesting.... I didnt know that....
its a trace...that blows...its perfect...but it still blows...I would still want a copy....
is that a trace of a photo or something?

yeah it was from a photo. You can't take it away from her though – everyone Who I show the article to is astounded by the attention to detail.
p.s Who's Ken?
