What are you doing to improve your career? Updating your portfolio, training, learning new skills, targeting bigger
clients, personal work, advertising your services more? What are your specific career goals?

In the short term:
Going to the Eric Meyer CSS/XHTML seminar in Chicago on Nov. 3rd.
Going to some kind of time/project management seminar soon.
My company is cool, we get to go to four seminars related to our jobs (in Marketing dept.) each year. I've already taken a day course in InDesign, and a web content management seminar, as well as a few webinars about different topics.

I feel like I am in a rut right now as I have let money dictate my career. I have a lot of financial responsibilities so I have always taken boring higher paying jobs over interesting ones.

I am going to apply for some professional development leave, research/study leave, or a sabbatical. I want to grow as a designer and work on a few areas i think are weak - to help raise their design and brand as a whole (while maintaining job security).
whether i get it or not is another story entirely.
but it's a dream. :)

My career goal is to get the F'n crap out of this rinky dink town and agency ASAP. I am not challenged here I need someone to Kick my Arse and I need to be around people who don't use "might could" in client meetings. I am seeking freelance stuff so I can actually put things in my portfolio I can be proud of.

Recently took advanced InDesign training.
My current job is decent, but merely a stepping stone which allows me to do loads of freelance and actually some of my freelance clients come through my day job, plan is to go solo when the jobs overwelm me, which is currently starting to happen.

That's kind of the model I'm going by, I've had to turn some jobs down (which I hate doing) but am entertaining the idea of "making a go of it" solo. kinda stressful though

(Sep 29 05, 07:43)all of the above. and sleeping with the boss's wife.
someday i'd like to be a creative director. i'd like to still be able to design for the company but all the deisign work must come through me first before it goes out. i'd conduct critiques with the other designers and lead them to better work.
then take them to paintball and shoot them in the face.
