Not exactly sure where our species developed the fear. But have something to do with sickness epidemics, such as plague, transmitted by rats.
Doesn't matter how much time they spend cleaning, you can't groom a pathogen.

Been avoiding this thread all day, but when I try and think of something that will make people uncomfortable, bloody rats are the first thing that pop into my mind.
