Sort of, it was the fleas living on the rats. Technically the rats were the host for the fleas which hosted the disease.

Exactly...not the rats fault. The mass killing of rats during the various plague scares does more harm than good -- it forces the fleas to find new warm bodies...us.

rodents are nasty in general. fucking feces machines, but...
i used to know this girl that had lab rats as pets. they were way cooler than any doemstic rabbits, gerbils, ferrets, etc, etc, i ever saw... very smart and devious palyful. we'd feed 'em a nip of the reefer once and a while. ...watch 'em wig out in slow motion.
all were thoought to be female until she found two clutches of babies. i dunno if thier encloseures were too small oe what, but both mothers ate thier babies. no shit. we let 'em go in a sewer drain.
