Okay, just spent forever learning how to do some basic CSS and have come to the conclusion that if you want some nice menus or otherwise easy graphics, Flash is it. Otherwise, if you want to do nice buttons and not static ones which, face it, CSS doesn't help look any better) then you still need flash. Java may be able to do some things, but design seems more robust in Flash.

um I think your missing the point a bit

CSS would be a giant step forward, had it been consulted by those css nerd fathers with designers.
OK, maybe css4 will be useful.

not gonna bother even reading your post, CSS rules - it has since it was released and will continue to rule until the sun burns this planet of ours into dust

CSS rules. CSS sucks.
All done, nothing to see here.

Gee, great, If I want to do a hundred revs to the site, great. But when dealing with one off sites, Id rather draw my design, not type it. It's a workflow issue as well as the boring static aspect of it. Can CSS currently address those issues?

To reiterate an earlier post...

(Sep 22 05, 23:33)So put your Flash in a CSS layout....

Or just stick to pure Flash if that's what suits your needs. You can't seriously be expecting Flash-like effects with CSS.

css rocks
internet explorer just making up ways to interpret it SUCKS

whats the problems with menus? you can have in and out animations on gifs to avoid using flash and there's not much visible difference.

Good luck in the world of webdesign if you stick to your guns on this. Just build ALL your sites in flash and see how many people visit them.

haha
by nice menus do you mean pointlessly over-indulgent slowloading, showy animations?
seriously though, surely what's best for the site depends on what's best for the client/job?

Awww bless. CSS confused the lad.

i remember this site made in flash,
oops , i couldn't visit it i didn't have flash....
all good designer even those who use flash, will tell you that a good backend made in HTML, is what's matter
flash is cool but .....

full flash pisses me off (unless it's done by a real master). not going to back that up or anything, it just does :P

A crap workman on the other hand?...

CSS's strength is in seperating the design from the content and the ability to make wholescale, sweeping changes. In my opinion anyway.
It's all good.

mac or pc?
:)

why d'you ask?
oh right....

I'll tell you what. In several months time whenever the W3C roll out XHTML 2.0, all these people who refuse to accept CSS are simply going to be out of a job.
What are you gonna do when you wake up one day and find that the img tag is deprecated? Insist your users use old browsers? Or do your job properly and learn to code with tools that are actually rather easy to grasp?

CSS is not neccesarily about looking better. It's about coding better, in a more logical way.
I think you're missing the point to. Thanks to many months of learning how to do full CSS layout, I'm throwing aspects of it into very simple single page layouts without even thinking about it.
