I have always had this urge to visit other states in us but never know where. I basically don't want a big city kinda deal, but not neccesarily total trailer trash too. I want to visit a place with cool kids thats not pretentious, and that i can visit local punk shows or whatever.
anyone have any suggestions? im trying to make this a photo journal kidna thing.
one thing to keep in mind is that i dont drive (working on it).
thanks.

Sounds like you just need to live near a big city. I grew up in Long Island. Not like NYC at all and not like the sticks at all.

phily is not to bad. Its a city but alot smaller than NY and more tight knit. good underground scene.

I took the Greyhound across a few provinces as well. The ride was a few days (my entire family - all 7 of us - were along for the ride) and was REALLY interesting. Some parts were good, some bad. But it was an experience I wouldn't change. Maybe it's the route were taking or maybe it's where we were going, but we definitely went through country-ish places. Not so much the city, but it was there once in a while.

burlington is neat because:
it's the largest city in vermont, i think.
there are a lot of young people
there are a couple colleges
there is a large music scene
there are a bunch of creative people because companies like burton snowboards, jdk, ibm, gravis footwear, i think there are some other snowboard brands up there.
it's perched up in the mountains so a lot of people snowboard.
the downtown area is very easy to maneuver by foot without car.
