Anyone have any tips to keep my brain from flying 1000 mph and stay focused without getting perscribed speed? Boards of Canada works fairly well but I was wondering if any of you have any tricks that you use to stay focused?

take more frequent breaks. a short walk. get some water. or grab a small snack.
helps me stay focused. also listening to music helps as long as i don't start daydreaming i'm actually singing the song on stage which, happens a lot. :(

music, especially mellow music usually. jazz, some classic hippy rock, old school dub/reggae, maybe even some mos def, or something like that.
snacks help too.
the best for me is music and beer when i'm working at home.

I personally need the repetition of good music to keep going. The more instrumental the better--vocals often break up a steady pattern of working for me. Eating healthy helps me focus, too. And sipping on Gatoraid & water throughout the day is great.

lots of water.
when i have the opporotuniy, the correct lighting works also. no overhead flourescents, a nice lamp or something.
lots of daylight during the day.

music - for me it's really sludgy/stoner metal or ambiant shit like brian eno
caffiene - it makes me focus like crazy

Honestly, if you really want to slow your mind down, and stop the constant flow of thoughts, you should get a book on Zen Meditation.
The whole concept is pretty much to remove all of those constant thoughts, and train your mind to be calm and it definately helps you concentrate on one thing. I know I used to have my mind flying all over the place, but after a few weeks of meditating, I am a different person.
If you really try it, it will do wonders for you, and it doesnt involve pumping yourself with mind-numbing pharmaceudicals.
Good luck my friend.
hit me up if you need any more advice on the subject.
