Quark anyone?

Has anyone ever encountered the problem of Quark just freezing when trying to open it? No matter what I do I can't get Quark to run and most of my projects rely on me using that program!
My IT department thinks it has to do with my user account on the Mac and not the program itself, since it (Quark) opens under administrator log in. But, they created a new account for me and it still isn't working. I keep suggesting that they try reinstalling Quark, but they refuse to try that option.
Anyone have any experience with this? And do you think it is a Mac or Quark issue?
Thanks in advance!

Preferences or licensing problem maybe?

I have known about this issue. But the person who was having it pretty much threw qurk in the can and went out and got Indesign. Has been happy ever since

I would love to make the switch but there is no way my company would do it!
But, if what you are saying is true then it would definitely be a Quark problem and not the Mac!

ive unfortunately had that happen to me. it turned out to be a corrupt quark document.
will quark open any other files?
- zenfulbeauty0
nope. I have tried opening it by double clicking Quark's icon as well as by trying to open different quark documents....grrrr!

check your preferences. i have had a font obstruct the opening of quark when it didn't bother illy or pshop.
quark is buggy and weird.

Quark once wouldn't open on my computer and I copied somebody else's preferences into my folder because it opened fine on theirs. That worked.

Stupid question, maybe....
but how do I check the preferences if I can't open Quark? :-)

library -> preferences
it's in your system files

i had the same problem but it did open under a new user. i think it was a licensing issue for me.

I don't even know what to look for or tell IT to look for in the pref folder though...arrggh.
