I need a printer. I'm debating between the Epson Photo 1280, the R1800 or the Canon i9900. Do you guys have/use any of these three? Do you know of any comparable models? HP for example? Thanks fellows

i have the 1280... no complaints so far (almost 1 year old) although i wouldn't consider myself a high-volume user, and my #1 reason for picking this model was the crazy rebates available at time of purchase.
that said, i think Canon are supposed to be the best.

i've got the Canon IP5000 and absolutely love it. Prints faster and sharper than any other printer i've used for my personal stuff at home.
that i9900 looks sweet and it prints 13"x19". VERY NICE.

There is a thread a little farther down currently entitled: i9900 Printer

I've had much luck with EPSON. The 1280 was good to me, for many many years. The R1800 is basically an upgraded version of the 1280. I was waiting for that for a while actually. It's pretty nice, well worth it... 10x.
I love CANON, but for pretty pictures. Never tried their printers.
I'd put all my money on the R1800. Oh, wait, I *did.*

I'm not sure what Epson I have (had). It lasted for about 1 year. And now it's a piece of shit. Only cost me $99. So fuck it. Served it's purpose, and now I know you get what you pay for.

i've got a canon i9100 and it's amazing. the 9900 looks like it's just as great. the only problem i've found is it doesn't print rolls, but that might be fixed wiht the 9900.
epson and hp really aren't able to compete in the large-format category. the calibration is spot on and the ink lasts quite a long time.

well, that didn't work ou the way i had hoped....
*walks back to lame thread

i was cheap and i've got canon ip4000. still pretty damn good quality prints.
my previous canon died after 4yrs of abuse. but i've always liked canon. espacially if you have canon digi cam, they work together well.

here's that other thread....hopefully

i've already recommended canon many times on the board - I've utterly abused an i9100 at work for the past tree years and it has more than exceeded my expectations.
I'm now looking to buy one for home.
