You know 10 years ago the only way to get to Lantau was by boat! Now there's an airport, bridge, train, MTR, and cable car there! Part of the fun of getting up to the Po Lin monastery:

Was taking the 45 minute ferry, then a 30 minute rickety busride up the hill. Now you can just hop on a train, and get the cable car.
All the experience is lost.
It makes me so sad....

the single most tragic thing that happened to my lovely home was when li kar sing (richest man) decided to buy off the fu pao mansion (a wonderful, surreal place situated on a low hill with all sorts of sculptures and errie sceneries, its like a disneyland for dali). they just tore the fucking place down and now theyre building a luxury residential. Oh and that palce was right beside my house so i have alot of memories.

i know, my parents live on Discovery Bay on Lantau, it was so nice and not many people know of it, now every Tom dick and harry lives there. not nice anymore.

Since when dude! My parents are on Cheung Sha Beach...just down a bit from disco bay.Fuck yeah I remember back in the day when Disco Bay hadn't even finished phase 1 - not they are on like phase 10 - it's a fucking city now!
had a friend out there and we'd go over on the weekends to build a ramp - used to skate it right outside the unfinished police station.

my parents lived there since mid 80's, they lived on phase 2. so nice. My mom worked at the clinic on Peng Island. and we use to go eat seafood all the time. It was so nice.
