Is the new album better than Transatlanticism? Because that album is their best one yet....
- Tara0
Nic,
where ya been man?
haven't seen you on ichat
- mg330
No. I just got it the other day, and while really good, I miss the edge that some of the other songs had, both in rythm and sound. I've liked them for a looooong time, and miss the distorted guitars and impact of some things.
Like the song "We looked like giants. on Trans... Excellent song, kind of dark, haunting.
They def. had the money to do what the did on Plans. Major label $$ means lots of extra instruments beyond a typical band, lots of imbellishment in the production, and often this means the demise of other things (like big, full guitars) so that lots of little things (horns, strings, synth, extra percussion) can stand out.
That is exactly what I thought three songs into Plans. It's good, but it's not wowing me like Trans did.

Photo Album is still their best, but Plans is very good.
- Dirty_Deluxe0
No it's not even close.
I will follow you into the dark might be one of their best songs though.

I feel a little let down. I guess I was too excited about it.
- DRIFTMONKEY0
Yeah, not close IMO as well, but "Your Heart Is An Empty Room" is awesome!

Listen to the new Broken Social Scene album instead. Due to be out 4th October. It's self-titled and the best album of 2005 together with Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary.
Oh Canada. Keep feeding me with the best music around.
- tierdot0
i was also disappointed by plans, photo album is their best followed by trans, imo
plans to me just sounds boring..like hearing the old death cab playing 5 blocks away
- Dirty_Deluxe0
Any rumors of a second postal service album?
- DRIFTMONKEY0
I just got the Postal Service on vinyl, and it came with a bonus record with Iron & Wine and Shins covers. Awesome!
- Dolorosa0
I've heard the new Postal Service album won't be coming out until sometime in 2007.
And I agree that Transatlanticism is better than Plans but I think Something About Airplanes is their best and Trans is my second favorite.

they suck
- usrper0
sellout.
:)
- mg330
Haha, a band gets on a major label and gets more money than ever to make an album, and they're called being sellouts.
- ewo0
It's not so different from TA. But I like that one better.

I keep forgetting that so may great Canadian bands are coming out with another cd this year. Most of them are sophomore albums too.

Underrated Canadian musician:
Manitoba
- Dirty_Deluxe0
Manitoba had to change his name, cause of an old punk guy.
he's now calling himself Caribou.
