City, state and national politicians are the real criminals here. Since at least the mid-1800s, the danger of flooding to New Orleans has been widely known. The flood of 1927, which, like this week's events, was more about politics and racism than any kind of natural disaster, perfectly illustrated the potential disaster.

I would have loved to seen this happen during the Clinton years.
He would have handled it so much better.
*biting lip
"I love New Orleans. I love the music.... I play the saxaphone... I can relate. And the children. *biting lip. We need to help the children."He sure would have made us feel better but the people displaced would be going through the same bullshit.

most people who have never lived in hurricane-prone areas have NO idea what the organisational chain reaction is after a disaster.
the local and state governments of the areas hit are run by a bunch of criminals. they were given truckloads of money from homeland security to prepare for this but didn't because they are so corrupt. there was no police presence at the superdome when hundreds are usually present during a game or event etc., etc.. pathetic.
yea bush should've stepped in sooner, fine. i am no fan of the man, but fair is fair and those local/state leaders are the ones who should be raked over the coals.

Incredible. In four and a half short years the Bush Administration has completely and successfully brainwashed the American public into foregtting what a competent and viable government can do.
By bankrupting it, eliminating all the actual professional middle managers and replacing all levels of leadership with Party hacks, they have succeeded in destroying not only Americ'as great federal system, but any trust in it's employ for the common good.

hmm...political patronage. What a surprise! I didn't know this went on in politics. If you must Mr D, spread the blame around a bit. It won't hurt you to be objective and apportion blame to all those who deserve it. Don't be such an ideologue.
- thinman0
what does the timelnie mean?
- mrdobolina0
it is a politically charged issue, it didnt have to be, but it is now.
